A complex minty-smoky amber featuring fossilized amber (pine resin) with a secret floral heart. Literally millions of years in the making and definitely worth the wait, this dry and distinctive, primal amber has facets of mint, saro, African helichrysum, lavender, thyme, green peppercorn, blue water lily, myrrh, styrax, patchouli, vetiverol, pine moss, sandalwood, fossil amber and ambergris. Primal yet comfortable with good diffusion and a tranquil heart, it bears little resemblance to most men’s colognes and can easily be worn by anyone who enjoys bold but light-bodied fragrances. Note: “amber” in fragrance is usually a sweet-balsamic fantasy note. This isn’t that kind of an amber. Overspraying is recommended to get the full effect in the drydown. Silver was a finalist for Basenotes 2021 artisanal fragrance of the year. There’s now another minty-pepper-floral-fossil amber-myrrh fragrance by a larger brand that sells for a much higher price and features a similar description, including the word “primal’ - and has “million year” in the title. Whether or not that’s a coincidence, this has become the original of the minty fossil amber genre and there’s still nothing like the real thing.
