**Note: I will be phasing out the usual individual picture labels on my perfume bottles to a uniform brown handwritten label, so perfume labels may vary from current listing photos** Mr. Moundshroud and Joe Pipkin “The wind outside nested in each tree, prowled the sidewalks in invisible treads like unseen cats. Tom Skelton shivered. Anyone could see that the wind was a special wind this night, and the darkness took on a special feel because it was All Hallows' Eve. Everything seemed cut from soft black velvet or gold or orange velvet. Smoke panted up out of a thousand chimneys like the plumes of funeral parades. From kitchen windows drifted two pumpkin smells: gourds being cut, pies being baked.” -Ray Bradbury, The Halloween Tree The Halloween Tree is my all time favorite book for many reasons. It’s strange, spooky, heartwarming, and an interesting tale of the origins of Halloween throughout history. This perfume is inspired by two main characters, a dark and mysterious collector of souls who goes by the name of Carapace Clavicle Moundshroud(Mr. Moundshroud for short), and a young boy literally running for his life named Joe Pipkin. If you get the chance, read the book or see the movie. It’s a wonderful experience. Now onto the scent! I wanted to bottle the essence of the magical night of Halloween, as well this amazing story and characters to create a scent that is both nostalgic, and entirely unique. Notes of spiced apple, pumpkin pie, vanilla, and hay open the scent. Smoky patchouli and anise create a dark and alluring middle, sandalwood and a hint of dead leaves reminiscent of the ghosts of Halloween’s past round it out!
