Obscura Hortus

Bookshelf

Indie

Bookshelf is the keeper of words and worlds. It can be anywhere— in your room, in your study, messy, overstuffed. In a shadowed library, antiqued, containing leather tomes and dusty whispers. It could be in a thrift store, housing tattered old editions for 10 cents a piece, or in a modern study— clean color-coded rows of crisp paperbacks, possibility waiting on every shelf and in every spine! This unisex scent contains the structure of textured, rustic woods and cedar to bear the weight of many ideas and stories. Olibanum in its resinous wisdom gives it a meditative depth. Earthy laudanum and cumin exist in subtle waves, human, the skin of a fingertip flipping through pages. And then the rose! Oh, that faint and lovely rose, a poetic rose, a thoughtful rose nearly forgotten and pressed within a favorite hardcover book. This is a curious and bookish and human scent, because aren’t we just living bookshelves in a way? Never quite static, always adding and rearranging our thoughts, telling our stories to the right kind of ears. Yeah, I think so.
