***This is a special edition scent for fall, so quantities may be limited / it may sell out fast*** **There is a typo on the label in the picture -- The correct spelling is "Muertos" -- This has been corrected on the actual label!** This fragrance is inspired by the Mexican holiday, The Day of the Dead. Made with the scents of calendula flower, chocolate, sugar, frankincense (in place of the more traditional copal incense), vanilla, and cedarwood. Slightly floral, slightly sweet, and earthy. The perfect combination for honoring friends and family who have passed on, and celebrating the cycle of life! Fragrance Note(s): Calendula Flower • Chocolate • Sugar • Frankincense • Vanilla • Cedarwood Scent Categories: Slightly Floral • Slightly Sweet • Earthy The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and helping support their spiritual journey. In Mexican culture, death is viewed as a natural part of the human cycle. Mexicans view it not as a day of sadness but as a day of celebration. People prepare food, drinks and flowers for their deceased loved ones. There is a belief that their ancestors come back to the world of the living for just a few hours to enjoy a moment with their families and to receive gifts. A common symbol of the celebration are the skulls (calaveras), which are usually made from chocolate or sugar. People label the front sections of the skulls with the names of the living, but never with the names of the deceased. Mexicans also create poems dedicated to death. In Mexican schools, it is common for children to write calaveras or poems for the Day of the Dead. Calaveras describe, in a funny and interesting way, a passage or anecdote along with a 'La Catrina', an elegant skull first created by the Mexican illustrator Jose Guadalupe Posada. A catrina is one of the strongest symbols of the day. It is believed the fragrance of the cempasuchil (Mexican Marigold) leads the spirits to the home. Sometimes paths made from petals lead the spirits from the cemetery to the house of the living.
