Little And Grim

Pointe Aux Barques

Waves slamming against the old lighthouse, and a breeze carrying the scent of mourning flowers. Notes of ocean breezes, lily of the valley, mild rose, cyclamen, sandalwood, sea kelp, bergamot, citrus zest, and just a hint of clove and pepper. The Pointe aux Barques lighthouse on the shore of Lake Huron in Michigan was constructed in 1848. Though it had many keepers, perhaps most notable was Catherine Shook, the first female light keeper in Michigan. Catherine took over the duty after the passing of her husband, Peter. Some believe the lighthouse and surrounding buildings to be haunted by Catherine, with reports of seeing apparitions, hearing voices and laughter, or seeing objects move. Regardless of its supposed spiritual activity, the area is a beautiful place to visit (there's even camping nearby!). Our homage to this locale is a calm aquatic, with ozonic water notes supported by gentle, sweet florals. It's fresh without being bracing, and is lovely as an everyday scent for any gender.
